We moved to Grantsville, Utah. It is your typical small town- as in it litterally has only 1 stop light. We LOVE it! Everyone is so nice and friendly. You don’t walk/drive/ride by someone without waving. No more awkward moments like I used to have back in Aurora, where I would smile or say hi to someone on a walk or run and they would just look at the ground and do all they could to avoid eye contact. The people seem so much more humble out here. Then there’s the fresh air, it may sometimes have a slight smell of horse manure but that’s okay by me. Kal loves all of the animals we see on our walks. The kinds he had only seen pictures of in his books (goats, sheep, horses, cows, alpacas, chickens). The dogs love all the animals too, and the wide open spaces. This place is perfect for us, and the house is perfect for our needs right now too! It was so nice of my parents to let us stay with them as we looked for a house, then as we got under contract to build, and then as we cancelled our building plans and got under contract for this house. What’s really nice though, is having our own space again. I don’t have to worry about my kids or dogs getting into something, or breaking something. I can let Talynn cry it out and not worry about bothering anyone else. This is our new home!
Yes that is Kal grabbing the mail in his underwear….people don’t judge out here!
Evening view out the back….
Daily view from the porch…. the neighbors across the street have a nice 6 acre plot, with tons of mature trees. It’s kind of a nice view during the spring and summer not looking out at the front of another house.
More fun pics I took around the property….
Here are a few of what the property looks like…..
I’ve been working pretty hard on the front yard, getting ride of weeds, raking out thatch, and getting it green.
R.V. Pad next to the house. I’ve pulled a lot of the weeds, got rid of the dead trees, but I’m still working on the weeds out by the road. Eventually we’ll have a nice flowerbeds along the perimeter of the concrete.
This is straight back from the R.V. pad, as you can see there are mounds of dirt and tons of weeds. There is gravel underneath all this weedage! This is gonna be a lot of work….To the right you can see what looks like a bunch of junk. The owners before had rabbits living in that shed and there was an outdoor section that they built onto it. We got rid of that.
You can see it better in this picture. The shed remains but everything else is gone. You can also see a playhouse they started in the back corner of our lot. We tore this down as well. Jeff will build a newer/safer/nicer one eventually. Perhaps next spring.
Now a few pictures of the inside. I’ll just show a couple rooms. I’ll wait until i’ve painted and decorated to post before and after pics of the entire house.
Master Bath:
Jeff and I have done quite a bit of tile together for clients, and so I have been relatively happy with the tile work that was done in this house prior to purchase. I’m a big fan of recessed shower shelves.
Kids Bath: I plan on painting this, and doing wainscoating….
Here is one of the living room
Still thinking on paint colors, and what do to decorally….
See the couches pictured above….well since Ginger went into heat I made couch cushion covers so that the cleanup after the fact wasn’t so consuming.
Happy with how they turned out and happy that our couches wouldn’t have to look ugly for 3 weeks.
I wanted to wait to do Kal’s 2nd birthday party in our new house so we did it a month late.
It was late in the afternoon so we served brinner. There is an amazing BBQ joint around the corner ‘RICHARD’S ROUNDUP’. Their pulled brisket is to die for, and their BBQ sauces are amazing. We got a little brisket, pork and chicken and had buns.
PopPop approves! I believe he had 2nds, and maybe 3rds?
Icecream bar as well….
Kal wore his conductor overalls for his “CHOO CHOO” Kal is 2 party!
LOVED opening up gifts, and family got him some awesome stuff!
He had been in dire need of some new clothes that fit and for the warmer weather. He opened a shirt and said “OH SHIRT!” but shirt had a bit of a silent R. He never ceases to entertain us…
This boy LOVED blowing out his candles, we actually lit them 3 times. Poor thing got eaten alive by mosquitos a couple days before his party. Ignore his “acne”.
Aunt Heidi got Kal a pretty sweet train set…..
I think it’s safe to say he likes it.
Talynn also got a cool gift from aunt Heidi for Kal’s birthday! This adorable outfit. My kids are so spoiled!
Living in Grantsville we are about a 10 minute drive from THE Great Salt Lake. So we pass it on our drives home from my parents house in Riverton. One Night there was a beautiful sunsetting on the Lake, I missed the really good part, but some pics of the end (still beautiful)
I mention earlier us going on walks. I go on a walk or run with the kids everyday. Sometimes when Jeff gets home even if I’ve already gone we’ll go again and take the dogs we get to see lots of cool and beautiful things. Here are just a few….
Often times we’ll make a little pit stop at a park and let Kal burn some energy-
We’ve been able to really burn the dogs energy, which has been nice for them and us! They are often pooped from exploring…..
Well temporarily pooped. Just give them 5 minutes and then they’re ready to rock’n’roll!
Can we just take a minute to look at how much this little stinker has grown in the past 6 months. How is she 6 months already?!? Love her dearly….
Of course when I was doing Talynn’s 6 month shoot Kal decided he wanted in on the fun. He is such a ham!
Talynn is growing up too fast. She’s crawling now! Forwards, backwards, on her hands and feet, etc.
I had forgotten about how when babies are getting mobile they’re bodies aren’t used to expending so much energy so they just pass out randomly….
My parents put a pool in, and we’ve gone over a couple times to swim.
“SOMEBODY FEED ME!”
Jeff is soo great at coming home and burning our son’s excessive energy!
And surprising him with thoughtful gifts. Kal wants to be just like his daddy!
A month or so ago we had this nice surprise out our back door.
I love life here! I love being a wife, mother, and vizsla breeder. I especially love getting to see sweet loving eyes looking back at me everywhere I turn.
