This year Halloween was quite a bit more fun than years past. We now have 2 kids who can much better appreciate the concept of Halloween, or atleast understand the basics. Their imaginations have been growing exponentially these days, and this laid the ground work for all things spooky this year. We learned our lesson after carving pumpkins though….the kids loved “helping” daddy carve a pumpkin on the Eve of Halloween. Well all except the pulling nasty guts out….
This is Jeff’s pumpkin. We were shining our laser in it to see how it turned out, and Talynn freaked. “FREAKED” is putting it lightly. For the next week she would randomly go on and on about “scary pumpkins, scary, pumpkins hurt me!”
Super scary huh?!
Halloween Day I finally got around to carving my pumpkin and given Taly’s reaction to Jeff’s jack’o’lantern I opted for something that couldn’t possible be construed as scary…. paisley.
Halloween morning we had some friends over for some Spooky Cakes!
Yummers!
Then Halloween night we treked over to Grandma and PopPop’s house to go ‘trick or treating’ in their neighborhood. The houses are way closer together than out here in Grantsville! These kiddos loved getting dressed up!
Our theme this year was “We save lives”…
Taly was an adorable little nurse!
I had sooo much fun making her costume, and couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out! She loved it even more than i did, and didn’t want to take it off!
This girl is perfectly sassy in every way!
Kal was our fireman! We found his costume at Costco a couple months ago and were so impressed with the quality. It was a canvas material and looked super legit. The days leading up to Halloween were long and hard for him as he would ask each day if he was big enough to wear it yet….and would askk for lots of food so they he could grow big enough. I made his Oxygen tank which didn’t take long to get trampled on by helpful miss Talynn.
Kalvin has worn this costume EVERY day since Halloween (even to bed some nights) and insists on talking about himself in 3rd person and referring to himself as “fireman”.
“The fireman is hungry”
“Can the fireman go outside?”
“Is that hot sandwich for the fireman?”
How cute are these two?!?
They loved running from house to house together. Taly cutely saying “trick or treat”, and Kalvin telling every opening door that he was a fireman!
Mr. Artisan was our little missionary!
Jeff the doctor, and I was obviously my sister for Halloween. I mean I was a cop for Halloween!
Taly learned quickly that her cuteness allowed her to get away with grabbing handfuls of candy from people’s bowls, especially the ones that told her to grab what she wanted…..oh she did, and then some!
Kalvin suggested a few days after Halloween “Let’s go ‘trick or treating’ again!” This was of course after he had realized that daddy had eaten all his candy….well atleast the good stuff!
